The following Obit was published in the Roswell Daily Record, December 4, 1926
JERRE BROWN DIES
Jerre Brown, highly respected citizen and cattleman passed away at the family home seven miles southwest of this city this morning at five thirty o'clock. Mr. Brown's illness covered a period of only a few weeks and his passing is a shock to the many loyal friends that he has here. Mr. Brown was born in Martinsburg Pennsylvania on September 28, 1844. It was there that he received his education. He married miss Susan Ling in Martinsburg fifty two years ago. Mr. Brown came to this city twenty-one years ago giving up his hardware and tannery business in Martinsburg to become associated with the John Bloom & Thacher Cattle Co., of Roswell. Mr. Brown was one of Roswells most respected and esteemed citizens and his passing will be felt by the many friends he has made here. Mr. Brown is the father of seven children five of whom are now surviving. O. S. Brown of Roswell, R. C. Brown, of Roswell, B. L. Brown of Roswell, Mrs. J. E. Bloom of Roswell, and Mrs. S. A. Pfeiffer of Roswell, also two grand children, Margaret I. Brown of Roswell and Gilbert Pfeiffer of Roswell. Mr. Brown has been a faithful member of the Lutherian(sic)Church ever since boyhood and Reverend Greever of the Lutherian (sic)Church who was a life long friend of Mr. Brown will have charge of the services tomorrow. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at two o'clock from his daughters home, Mrs. J. E. Bloom, at 200 North Kansas street. The pall bearers will be John Peck. John Mullis, William Atkinson, B. F. Smith, Clyde Fulton and Sam Mc Cue. Music will be furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Kiefer. Burial will be make at South Park Cemetery. Mr. Brown will lie in state at the Talmage Chapel from five o'clock this afternoon until ten o'clock tomorrow morning.
The obit above lists his wife as Susan Ling when in fact his mother was Susan Ling. His wife's obit says his wife was Sarah Specht as the other information I have researched on this family has stated.
