Former Edina Woman Dies in St. Louis.
Mrs. Martha Mae [sic] (Blood) Colton, former resident of Edina and aunt of Miss Esther L. Eubank, 111 South Baltimore Street, died at 5 o'clock yesterday morning at her home in St. Louis. Death was attributed to the infirmities of age. Mrs. Colton had been in failing health the past year.
The body was brought to Kirksville where it will lie in state at the Dee Riley Funeral Home until 10:30 o'clock tomorrow morning when burial services will be held at the Edina Cemetery. Burial will be made in the family lot there.
Mrs. Colton was the daughter of James C. and Esther Blood, pioneer residents of Edina. She grew to womanhood at Edina and for several years owned a millinery shop there. In 1904, she moved to St. Louis where she also operated a millinery shop until her retirement about 10 years ago. Mrs. Colton was a member of the Christian Church at Edina and was a former member of the D. A. R. She was the last surviving member of her family, her parents, three sisters and one brother having preceded her in death.
Surviving besides her niece, Miss Eubank, are another niece, Mrs. Edward Bowker, of Ogden, Utah, and a nephew, Benjamin F. Eubank, of Phoenix, N. Y.

Former Edina Lady Died at Her Home in St. Louis Sunday.

Mrs. Martha Mae Blood Colton, who was reared here as Miss Mattie Blood, died at 5 o'clock Sunday morning at her home in St. Louis. Death was due to infirmities incident to old age, and she had been in failing health the last year. The body was sent to Kirksville and later brought to Edina for burial. Funeral services were held at the grave on the family lot in Linville cemetery Tuesday morning.
Mrs. Colton was the daughter of James C. and Esther Blood, who were pioneer residents here. The father was Edina's first stone mason and opened the first rock quarry here. Many of the foundations for Edina buildings came from the quarry. Later, her father later ran a butcher shop in Edina, and also a store, located where the White Castle Station now stands. The store was conducted in later years by the late "Jim" Blood, her brother, who died here June 12, 1940.
Mrs. Colton for several years conducted a millinery shop in Edina. In 1904 she moved to St. Louis and conducted a millinery store there until her retirement about ten years ago. She was the last surviving member of the Blood family, which consists of her parents, four daughters and a son.
Surviving relatives are a niece, Miss Esther L. Eubank, of Kirksville, a niece, Mrs. Edward Bowker, of Ogden, Utah, and a nephew, Benjamin E. [sic] Eubank, of Phoenix, N. Y.
