Emma and her sisters Louise and Malvina focused on painting. She learned painting from her uncle Félix De Vigne. [2] She painted the first twenty years of her career, especially still lifes with flowers, later also portraits.
The Vigne married in 1892 with her cousin Julius De Vigne (1844-1908), son of Felix, who is a lawyer and literary.
