She was born November 26, 1931 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late John Rant and Malvie (Halcomb) Lusk. On October 20, 1951, she married the love of her life, Andrew Salyer, who preceded her in death on May 17, 1983.
Gaytheal is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma, Grada, Freda, and Bonnie; and four brothers, Green, Chestley, Creal, and Gurna.
Gaytheal attended Lee’s College in Jackson, KY and the Louisville School of Nursing in Kentucky. She was an avid deer hunter and loved fishing on the banks of Salt Creek. Gaytheal was inducted into the Ohio Big Bucks Club in 1980 and was named Lady Deer Hunter of the year. She was also a member of the New Life CCCU in Richmond Dale.
The family would like to recognize the Gillum family for being such great friends, and also the New Life Church family.
A memorial services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the New Life CCCU in Richmond Dale, with Pastor David Stulley officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
