William Jacob Jessop was first married to Mary Mamie Hubler on October 29, 1928, in Ottumwa. After her death, he was married to Bertha Cummins.

Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” May 30, 1977:

William “Jake” Jessop, 88, of 1321 Chester Ave., died at his home at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

He was a retired John Morrell and Co. employe born in Ottumwa Nov. 27, 1908, to Harry and Maggie Sutton.

He married Bertha Cummins on April 8, 1938, in Ottumwa. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Raymond of Ottumwa and Marvin of Des Moines; one stepdaughter, Cleo Osteen of Ottumwa; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four brothers, Grant and Benjamin of Ottumwa, John of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Harry of Orlando, Fla; and two sisters, Mrs. Ellen B. Williams of Ottumwa and Leona M. Stamper of Pinellas Park, Fla.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Jay Funeral Home, the Rev. Loyal Hepker officiating. Burial is to be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
