HELEN MENOTTI DAYNES

Helen Menotti Daynes died peacefully December 15, 1995, at St. Joseph Villa.

She was born to John L. and Annie Notarianni Menotti on May 18, 1925, in Sunnyside, Utah, and remained forever fiercely proud of her Carbon County roots. Helen graduated Notre Dame, Carbon High School and received her RN degree from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing during World War II as a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps. A secretarial stint at the Utah State Road Dept. in Price preceded her 40 plus-year nursing career.

She married musician Roger Walker Daynes October 19, 1958. What a natural segue to join the Jazz organization when they came to Utah in 1979. Helen's retirement in June 1994 intensified her enthusiastic loyalty to the team. The Jazz were her reason for being!

Helen is survived by her mother of Price; sister and nephews, Carol, Anthony (Kirsten) and John (Charlotte) Oliver. Also niece Nicole Abramson of Denver; aunts, Mary (Joe) Delpha of Price, Clista Norton; her ever faithful Sparky and Lobo.

Special thanks to Dr. Yong Ahn, the "Gang" at Quinney, and "Free Willie" for the superb loving care!

Contributions in Helen's memory to the Quinney Transitional Unit, St. Joseph Villa, 451 Bishop Federal Lane, Salt Lake City, UT 84115-2299 would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 670 South 1100 East. A vigil service will be held Tuesday, 7 p.m. at the Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may visit Tuesday, 6-7 p.m. Committal service, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South.
