Charles Henry Thompson was born in Kanesville, Weber County, Utah. He was the second child to William Thompson and Jane Adamson Wanlass Thompson. His parents had a total of thirteen children. Charles' father was born in England immigrated to the United States. His Mother was born in Scotland and also immigrated to the United States.
Charles married Ada Ann Perry Thompson April 22, 1914 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had nine children. He was a member of the Kanesville LDS Ward where he held many positions. Charles and his wife and family were residents of Kanesville, Weber, Utah where they had a large farm. They had milk cows, a large vegetable garden, fruit trees, walnut trees, and a large flower garden which his wife enjoyed. He grew hay and devoted most of his time to farming. He wanted to be a doctor, but became a farmer instead. He taught his children honesty and hard work. He worked for the Ogden Arsenal from 1912 until 1946. In 1951 he began work at Hill Air Force Base. I remember grandpa taking my sister and I with him to the barn and we would watch him milk the cows and sometimes we would play on the hay stacks and pet the horses through the fence. Grandpa would sometimes entertain us by playing his harmonica. He was a quiet, gentle man. He passed away at the age of 75. At the time of his passing he had 23 grandchildren.
