oseph "Joe" Amorello, Jr, passed away at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 4:32 am at the age of 95. He was born in Baton Rouge on November 10, 1919. Joe is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Maude Landry Amorello who he loved at first sight. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Carroll and William Benedetto, Patty and Jerry Delaney, Jo Anne and Malcolm David, Gloria "Jeanie" and Robert "Joe" Broders, and Joseph "Scooter" and Jennell. He leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, Rhonda, Missy, Cindy, Jeff, Tim, Scott, Ashley, Shannon, Dane, Joe, Angel, Nick, Timmy and thirty great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his sister, Rose Agnes Davis; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Russo Amorello, Irma Laird, Hilda "Cecil" Pennington and Marilyn Landry; and brother-in-law, Joe Denham. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosalia "Rosa" Alesce Amorello; brothers, Tony, Phillip and Michael; and sisters, Crucie LeSage, Mary Amorello and Sister Mary Rose "Madeline" Amorello. Special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice and nurse Penny Perkins and to his caregivers Kim and Rhonda Joseph and Angela Tucker. He was an active member for many years of the Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus Council #3298. Joe was a proud U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the European African Middle Eastern and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters in Germany and France. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medals. He proudly participated in the Louisiana Honor Air in Washington, D.C. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St, on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 3 pm until 7 pm. Visitation resumes at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2250 Main St, on Monday, August 31, from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am celebrated by Rev. Gregory Daigle, Rev. Miles Walsh and Rev. Kenneth Laird. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations for Masses or donations to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2250 Main St, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 or the World War II Museum, 945 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70130.
