MOULTRIE — Ella Mae Sloan Giles, 94, of Moultrie, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Midway Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery.
Casket-bearers will be Heath Mims, Darrell Gay, Art Harvin, Brady Mercer, Wayne Lacey and Matt Sauls.

Born Aug. 24, 1920, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Henry Dave Sloan and Ruth Murphy Sloan. She retired from Warner Manufacturing Co. as a seamstress and was a member of Midway Freewill Baptist Church.
“Mama loved her family, church family, reading the Bible and other books, sewing, fishing, gardening, traveling and puzzles,” her family remembered. “She loved Brother Randy and Sandra Jackson and enjoyed her Sunday School Class and the Goldenrods at Midway Freewill Baptist Church. Mama died at a ripe old age, very independent, and was satisfied with life. She was prepared for her heavenly home. We loved her and will miss her.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lee Giles; daughter-in-law, Linda Giles; granddaughter, Jennifer Giles; great-granddaughter, Katie Giles; brothers, Wright Sloan, Walter Sloan, Gordon Sloan and Rufus Sloan; and sisters, Myrtle Chance, Ethel Wiggins, Julia Thompson and Lessie Murphy.

Survivors include two sons, Lamar Giles and wife Bonnie of Moultrie and Jerry Giles of Moultrie; two daughters, Shirley McMullen and husband Homer and Mary Evelyn Hiers and husband Harold, all of Pavo; grandchildren, Kelvin McMullen and Ann, Keith McMullen and Kathy, Kelly McMullen, Ken McMullen, Darren Giles and Noel, Chad Littleton and Kim, Greg Giles, Brian Giles and Amy, David Causey and Lee, Cindy Bullington, Dustin Hiers and Kara, Devonie McCabe and Tom; 32 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two special great-nieces, Laverne Norman and Larue Calhoun; many other special nieces and nephews; a special friend, Jack Calhoun; and her special caregiver, Emma Daniels.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
