Irene F. Gannon, 82, 130 N. Smith St., Batesville, Ind., died Friday Dec. 1, 1989, in her home. She was born April 25, 1907, in Columbus, Ind., the daughter of Elias and Ida Belle(Graham)Fodrea. She was a member of Batesville United Methodist Church and the Batesville Chapter 348 Order of Eastern Star(OEC). She married Jessie Gannon in Columbus, Ind., on May 28, 1927, and he survives. Together, the couple owned and operated the Gannon Jewelry Stores in Batesville, Ind., Greensburg and New Albany, Ind. She played violin in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Orchestra. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Pearl Simpson, Franklin, Ind., and Gladys Simpson, Syracuse, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eight sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be Sunday at the Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, Ind., from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Monday at the Hathaway-Myers Funeral Home, Columbus, Ind., from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hathaway-Myers Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Flory officiating. Burial will be at the Garland Brook Cemetery, Columbus, Ind.
