Swansboro NC - On August 18, 2015, Julia Lee Whitley Bush, age 88, went to be with her Heavenly Father and previously deceased son Robert Jr. Robert Sr., her devoted husband of 68 years, was by her side when she passed. The ultimate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she gave a lifetime of loving devotion to her family. Julia lost both of her parents at a very early age. She spent her childhood and teenage years at the Baptist Children's Home in Thomasville, North Carolina. She graduated from the home's High School with exceptional homemaking skills and the ability to be self sufficient. Her sister, Minnie Whitley Queener, facilitated her continued education on to business school. Even having lost her parents as a baby, she was a role model to her family. Julia was an exceptionally loving mother and friend. She bestowed unconditional love and support to her family throughout her entire life. As a woman of strong faith, Julia always took pleasure in being a member of her local church. After her children became of school age, she was employed by one of the country's leading manufacturers of paper products. During her 22 year career with the company, she became their first female executive, and was then promoted to a key position as a Production Manager in their marketing division. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 Friday August 21, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Swansboro with Dr. Lawrence Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay their respects at the church one hour prior to the service.
