Funeral services for Susan Irene Avants, 67, Enid, will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kremlin Community United Methodist Church with Pastor Michelle D. McCarty officiating.
Committal prayers and interment will follow in Kremlin Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Navy.
Susan was born on June 25, 1948 in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leonard and Cydonia Theresa Bettoncourt Hole, and passed away peacefully on August 15, 2015 in Enid.
She was raised and educated in Enid and Oklahoma City, graduating from Enid High School with the class of 1966.
Susan served her country in the United States Navy and later graduating from Phillips University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree.
She married Orvil Leon Avants in Kremlin on April 30, 1977. Susan taught at Eisenhour, Monroe, Harrison, Coolidge, and, retiring from Garfield School. Her specialty was working with developmental disability children.
Susan was a member of the Kremlin Community United Methodist Church, Member of OEA and NEA, the Red Hat Ladies, and a quilting club.
Susan is survived by her husband, Leon of the residence; sons, Stony Avants of Garber, Austin Avants of Enid, Joshua Avants of Enid, and Chuck Graham of Oklahoma City; daughter, Adonica Roberts of Oklahoma City;
10 grandchildren; brothers, Chip Ramsey of Enid, Jack Hole of Enid; sisters, Faye Koehn of Enid, Maggie Denham of Oklahoma City, Janna Williams of Enid.
