Claude grew up with Pearl Zina Stone in Plevna, Reno County, Kansas. They married December 20, 1908, in Nickerson. Sons Clarence Hilmar and Harold Roy were born there. In 1913 they moved to a farm in Sylvia, Kansas, where Lucille & Keith Elvin were born. In 1916 they moved to a 160 acre farm, 5 miles west of Elkhart, Meade County, Kansas, where Russell Glenn and Orva, the last two of their six children were born.
Pearl & Claude moved to a farm in Delhi, Merced County, California, in 1926. In 1927, their #2 son, 14 year old Walter Roy Blaine, died of a ruptered appendix at Emanuel Hospital in Turlock. In 1931 Pearl & Claude separated and she moved with the kids to Modesto, Stanislaus County, California. They divorced in about 1934.
After that Claude married another lady named Pearl (can't find any information), then married Emma Josephine (Nelson) Sherman and in 1946 moved to Newman, Stanislaus County, California. Emma passed away in 1947. Claude remained in a small house on his stepson Robert Sherman's property in Newman until shortly before he passed away in 1966.
