BERNICE O. WEST: [Final Edition]

Mrs. Bernice Owens West died Sunday, May 28, 2000, after a brief illness resulting from cancer.
Mrs. West moved to Newport News in 1940 from Henrico County. She retired from the City of Newport News after 22 years in the food service department and was a member of Hilton Presbyterian Church, Newport News.
Survivors include her daughter, Crystal West Moore of Cary, N.C.; a son, Benjamin S. West of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Reginald S. Owens of Howerton; a sister, Virginia O. Rowe of Richmond; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at Hilton Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Scott Bowerman, with interment in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News.
Memorials may be made to Hilton Presbyterian Church, 34 Main Street, Newport News, VA 23601; or flowers will be accepted.
