Joe William Franklin, 91, passed away peacefully and with grace in Sonoma, CA on August 7th, 2015. Joe was born September 21st, 1923 in Slocum Texas to Roy and Lora Franklin and left Texas at the young age of 18 to serve his country in the United States Air Force during World War II.
After his time in the Air Force, he earned his living as an automobile salesman, working mostly in Sonoma, California. Joe was a lover of animals, who in his spare time enjoyed playing golf and following the San Francisco 49ers football team. He especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved son, Joseph Allen whom he adored.
Joe lived a full and rich life. Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Allen Franklin of Healdsburg, California; Dorothy Simon (Robert), his first wife and mother of Joseph Allen Franklin; Jean Franklin, mother of his stepdaughter, Kathy Bryan (Ken), and step-granddaughter, Kristine Moran (Colm), and their children. He is also survived by his brother, Travis Franklin; his sister, Loyce Watts; and numerous other relatives, all from Texas. Joe will be missed by all who knew him.
Joseph Allen Franklin would like to thank the Hospice By The Bay, Valley Of The Moon Team for their generous help and kindness during his father's last days. Graveside inurnment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon will be private.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at noon. Please call Duggan's Mission Chapel for location at 707-996-3655.
