OBITUARY

Harold Louis Carlson, 89, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with visitation one hour prior to service. Harold, son of Arthur and Mabel Carlson, was born on September 22, 1930, in Gowrie, Iowa. He graduated from Gowrie High School and served in the Korean War with an honorable discharge. On August 28, 1955, Harold was united in marriage to Violet Erickson. He farmed and was a rural mail carrier retiring in 1995. In 2004 he moved to Minneapolis, MN to be closer to family and enjoyed listening to Polka music daily.

Survivors include children Susan (John) Fisher of Webster City, Diane Carlson of Plymouth, MN, Cathy Carlson of Jacksonville, FL, Marcia (Leon) Hendrickson of Burnsville, MN; eight grandchildren, Candice, Connor, Holly, Stephanie, Logan, Gavin, Miles and Ely; four great grandchildren; his sister Alice Koessel of West Des Moines, IA and many nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by wife Violet, parents, brother Richard, sisters Mary Orness and Wilma Arndt.
