Obituary for Violet Ann Carlson
Violet Ann Carlson, 85, formerly of Fort Dodge passed away on Tuesday August 11, 2015 in Plymouth, MN. The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with burial following at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Violet Ann Erickson, the daughter of Orville and Sylvia (Larson) Erickson, was born September 12, 1929 in Thor, Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1948 and later from Drake University with a teaching degree. On August 28, 1955, Violet was united in marriage to Harold Carlson. Violet taught many of her brothers and sisters while teaching at Newark Township for 7 years and was an elementary teacher at Northwest Webster Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and National Retired Teachers Association. In 2004, the couple moved to Minneapolis, MN to be closer to family.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years Harold Carlson, her children Susan (John) Fisher of Webster City, Diane Carlson of Plymouth, MN, Cathy Carlson of Minneapolis, MN, Marcia (Leon) Hendrickson of Burnsville, MN; eight grandchildren, Candice, Connor, Holly, Stephanie, Logan, Gavin, Miles and Ely; 4 great grandchildren; her siblings, Marilyn Keck of Colorado, Bonnie Erpelding of Algona, Barbara Muklebust of Colorado, Gary (Anne) of Fort Dodge, Vernon (Rosie) of North Carolina, David (Mary) of North Carolina, and Brian Erickson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John.
