He was a veteran of the Korean War and was very proud that he served his country. He owned his own ceramic tile business, Dennis Thomason Tile, for 30 plus years and he didn’t stop working until about seven years ago. He was finally able to ride his tractor/lawn mower, grow his garden, and fish whenever he wanted and tend to his scuppernong vine.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patty Jo, many siblings and in-laws, as well as special nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa Manfred (John Paul Carrigg) and Nancy (John) Miller; grandsons: Justin Johnson (fishing & hunting best friend), Joshua Johnson (Alabama football watching buddy), & Tyler Manfred (college man); granddaughter, Tamara (Robert) Donado (special care giver); and great-grandchildren: Abigayle Faith Johnson (the apple of his eye), Cole Donado, Chase Miller and Jadin Miller. He is also survived by his twin brother with which he had a bond with like no other, Ennis Thomason, and three sisters: Mavis (Richard) Ward, Margaret (Bob) Corbin, and his “baby sister” as he always called her, Gail (Lenwood) Rivers; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The entire family is grateful to his next-door neighbor, Bill Borkowski, for the special support given to Dad. We would also like to say a special thank you to John Paul who lovingly cared for Dad as if he were his own.
A gathering time will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Pensacola Chapel, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. with a special time of sharing precious memories around 3:00.
