James' obituary, which I have transcribed below, gave his date of birth as January 10, 1859. The year of birth on his gravestone is 1860. James is seen with his parents in the 1860 Census for Monegaw, St. Clair County, Missouri, at the age of 6 months. This census was done on September 12, 1860..

Also, his obituary gave his marriage date as November 11, 1877. James and Mary's marriage record is found in ancestry.com, and the date on it is November 11, 1879.

Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," October 31, 1950:

James R. Hart.

James R. Hart, 91, retired farmer and former Pella resident, of 406 Minnesota avenue, died Monday at 11:50 p.m. at the Ottumwa hospital.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hart, he was born January 10, 1859, in Green county, Mo. His marriage to Mary Meyers took place November 11, 1877, at Dunreath, Iowa. A longtime resident of the Pella community, he has made his home in Ottumwa for the past 10 years and was a member of the Home department of the Wesley Methodist church.

Mr. Hart is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Luella Koons of Marcola, Ore., Mrs. Margaret McGuire of Rouleau, Saskatchewan, Canada, Mrs. Jennie Moore of Des Moines and Mrs. Marie Van Gorp of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Holland of Springfield, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four sons, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Reece funeral home in charge of the Rev. Wilson Hyde of the Wesley Methodist church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Orville Howard, Gerald Howard, Jake Orman, George Bortz, Verne Miller and Goldson Swaim.
