Daniel J. LeClair, age 76 of 2815 36th St., Two Rivers, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 22, 2003 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay, after a courageous battle with Wegener’s Disease.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. The Rev. William Kilps will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the VFW and American Legion Post of Two Rivers.

Dan was born June 6, 1927 in Two Rivers, a son of the late Edward and Rose (Collins) LeClair. He attended schools in Two Rivers, graduating from Washington High School with the class of 1945.

On Aug. 25, 1945, he joined the United States Army and served his country until being honorably discharged from service Feb. 4, 1947. On Sept. 9, 1950, he was united in marriage to Irene Erdmann at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay, the Rev. Theo. Baganz presided. Mr. LeClair was a longtime employee of Hamilton Industries in Two Rivers, where he retired as a foreman in 1989.

Dan was an avid Packer and St. Louis Cardinal fan, and played fast pitch softball for many years with his brothers, Hilary and Rueben on teams which included; Brault’s Bar, Gauthiers Meats, and Ummy’s in the city league, and also Tisch Mills in the county league. He also played basketball for several years for Kreisa’s Bar, along with his brothers. He also loved fishing and bowling, and bowled in several National Championship Tournaments, competing in the doubles portion with his son, Gary. Dan loved his trailer at Chaudiers Dock, and he and his wife, Irene spent many weekends there for 25 years. He was a charter member of the East Reef Bait & Tackle Shop fishing group, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife: Irene; one son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Maureen LeClair, Two Rivers; one grandson: Christopher LeClair; two stepgrandchildren: Jessica and Joseph Wilhelm; three brothers and five sisters-in-law: Edward (Iris) LeClair, Arizona; Rueben (Vi) LeClair, Gerald (Lois) LeClair, Ethel LeClair and Ruth LeClair, all of Two Rivers; three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Lorraine Miller, Manitowoc; Joan (Dan) Paulow, Carol (Del) Meissner, and Stanley Lachowicz, all of Two Rivers. He is further survived by three special godchildren: Sara Greenwood, Becky Doyle, and Paul Kunstmann; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Doris (Ken) Mueller, Two Rivers; Marian Kunstmann, Manitowoc; Dale (Diane) Erdmann, Sturgeon Bay; and Marvin (Bernice) Erdmann, Elkhart Lake; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Hilary and Elmer LeClair; one sister: Irene Lachowicz; two brothers-in-law: Elmer Miller and Adolph Kunstmann; and his very special dog “Chico.”

Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
