James Douglas, 11th Earl of Morton was born before 1660. He was the son of James Douglas, 10th Earl of Morton and Anne Hay. He died on 7 December 1715, unmarried.
He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Morton on 25 August 1686. He was appointed Privy Counsellor in 1690. He was a Commissioner for the Union. He obtained the repeal of the Act of 1699 and recovered the Orkney and Shetland Islands.

Gravesite Details

Interred 14 Dec 1715, lyes 5 feet from the wall of the 4th glass window in the northeast end of the church, betwixt the 3rd and 4th pillars in the nourtheast end of the church.
