Jean Gagnon, the son of Pierre Joseph Gagnon and Renee Royer, was baptized on August 13, 1610 in the Saint-Aubin church in Tourouvre, Orne France. He is one of the three pioneer brothers to immigrate from Perche, France to Quebec, Canada in the XVII th century. Together they extablished a profitable business in New France. On July 29, 1640, he married Marguerite Cauchon in Quebec, daughter of Jean Cauchon and Marguerite Cointerel, originally from the country of Caux, near Dieppe in Normandy. At least eight children will be born from this union between 1641 and 1659. Jean died in Château-Richer on Apr 2, 1670.
