He also work as a deliverer of beer and wine for Grand Rapids Products. later in life he was a convert to the Heritage Netherland Reform Church, were he served as a Elder and Lay Pastor for several years. The DeBruyn family and the Kryger family were some of the first members of the Netherland Reform Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Abraham De Bruyn on 9 October 1882 were he born (in Grand Rapids) an he died on 9 December 1969 in the age of 87 years.
Abraham (Abe) De Bruyn became a Deacon in 1935 and in 1939 a Church Elder. He was a man who in the past lived and conducted a harsh life.
He was washed clean in the tears of Jesus Christ. This man was richly endowed with abilities, especially filling church vacancies, many times preaching and reading in the Dutch and English language, teaching to both young and old. He had for years observed catechism and Bible classes for children, for 25 years while that position was vacant. He also led funerals. He had much of the Dutch preaching translated into English, which are still now used in various Church readings. He was not frightened to speak the old truth.
When I was brought to his death, I was terribly attacked such as never before. The closer I came to his dwelling, it became worse. I trembled. This former Church Elder to now meet the gates. He gripped my two hands and said, "I have never been able to understand why you wanted me as a Church Elder and other positions for so many years. If you had known what I was, a very horrible man, so perverse, so guilty, you would have never wanted any dealings with me at all."
He was in the last years of his life so attacked with death that he sometimes said to me, "Oh I wish death would come, then there will never be someone shouting as hard as I." If he died in peace, and it is completed to him and acknowledged. "With tears are sown the seeds." We led his funeral with the words from Hebrews 2:15, about the purpose of the work of Christ, and his arrival at the Earth, and would relieve all those who with us of death by all their lives of subject servitude.
