Aunt Tillie was born to poor Lithuanian immigrants. She became Matilda Clemens when her dad became a US citizen in April 1918. She took on the name Elaine when she started working in 1936 as a hair dresser. She was fun and wise and she will always be Aunt Tillie to me.
