John F. Fox, 65, of 18 Harrington Avenue, retired hotel proprietor, died Thursday night in this city.
Born September 30, 1875, in Cortland County, the son of David and Josephine Daley Fox. Mr. Fox resided in this city most of his life managing a hotel here from 1918 to 1936. His wife, Katherine Quinlan Fox, died March 19, 1937.
Mr. Fox is survived by his mother, Mrs. Josephine Fox of Homer; one son Donald Fox of Cortland; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Stevens of Cortland, Mrs. Anna Costello of Homer, and Mrs. Mamie O’Connor of Tully; a brother, Frank Fox of Preble; four grandsons (names redacted for privacy).
The deceased was a member of St. Mary’s Church and was affiliated with the Holy Name Society.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday from McEvoy’s Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church, with burial to be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
