Cortland, June 10 – William J. Fox of Preble, 48 years old, died at Cortland county hospital Tuesday morning as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident on the Little York road on the afternoon of June 1. He was injured while riding in a car with two other men, the machine leaving the highway and turning over. Fox … was born in Preble. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cecile Fox of Syracuse, his mother Mrs. David Fox of Preble, three brothers, John F. Fox of Cortland, Lester D. Fox and Frank I. Fox of Preble and three sisters, Mrs. Edward O’Connor of Truxton, Mrs. Frank L. Stevens of Syracuse and Mrs. Michael Costello of Little York. The funeral will be held in Preble Thursday morning and burial made in Cortland cemetery.

INJURIES PROVE TO BE FATAL
William J Fox Fails to Recover from Automobile Accident
William J Fox of Preble, aged 46 years, died at the Cortland county hospital this morning, June 9, 1925 at 2:30 o’clock as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on the Little York-Preble road on the afternoon of Monday, June 1. The deceased was injured while riding in a car with two other Preble men, the machine leaving the highway and turning over.
Fox, who was the only one of the party to be injured, received a fractured skull, a broken nose, broken ribs, dislocated shoulder, as well as cuts and bruises. He was removed to the local hospital, where his condition from the first has been regarded as critical.
The deceased was born in the town of Preble and had spent the greater part of his life in this county. He made his home in Syracuse for about twenty years, conducting a hotel at 404 South Clinton St., for several years, and returning to Preble to make his home about five years ago.
Mr. Fox was a communicant of St Leo’s Church of Tully and he was an individual who was well known and highly respected by his many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cecile I Fox of Syracuse, his mother, Mrs. David (Johanna) Fox of Preble; three brothers, John F Fox of Cortland, Lester D Fox and Frank I Fox of Preble; and three sisters, Mrs. Edward O’Connor of Truxton, Mrs. Frank L Stevens of Syracuse, Mrs. Michael Costello of Little York, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at the home of his brother, Frank I Fox, at Preble, the date and hour to be announced later. The interment will be made in St Mary’s Cemetery in Cortland.
