Walter Thomas “Tom” Jones, 83, of Keokuk, IA died 6:00 a.m. Wednesday July 22, 2015 at the Keokuk Hospital after an illness.

Tom was born May 13, 1932 in Clinton, [Henry or Phelps County, MO the son of Walter Vernon and Melinda Jane (Andrew) Jones.

Tom was a resident of Weir, KS up until the age of 18 and was a graduate of Weir High School.

Tom was a Veteran of the Korean War earning the rank of Corporal First Class enlisting in Crowder, MO in December of 1951 and was discharged in September of 1954 in Colorado.

On December 21, 1951 Tom married Mooreen Leeneaun Gaston in Bentonville, AR; she survives at the home.

Tom worked in retail much of his life working in sales in businesses including Montgomery, GEX, Kroger, Pamida, Mammoth Mart, Parsons Ammunition Plant, Sheller Globe and American Lubricants. Later in life he became the owner and operator of Tom Jones Roofing while selling Durotest Light Bulbs.

Tom was a member of the First Christian Church, Boy Scouts, American Legion, VFW, Historical Society of Keokuk, New Comers Club and in his free time he enjoyed boating, gardening, bird watching and auctions.

Additional survivors include his children Linda McCoy and husband Bill of Owasso, OK, Deborah Coffey and husband Kenny of Carterville, MO, Thomas Vernon Jones of Keokuk, IA and Darla West and husband John of Keokuk, IA; brothers Jack, Jerry and Donnie Jones; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, son Thomas Vernon Jones and brothers Cork and Sam Jones.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday July 27, 2015 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, KS with Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating.

Burial will follow at the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir, KS.

Family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Saturday July 25, 2015 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, KS; friends may call after 12:00 p.m. Saturday.
