George A. Douglas Sr., Retired Civil Engineer, 72
Services for George A Douglas Sr., a retired civil engineer, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Patrick L. McDermott Funeral Home, 334 Forest Grove Road, Kennedy.
Mr. Douglas, 72, of 7 Dendron Road, Robinson Township died Saturday (Dec. 24) in Ohio Valley Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Robinson, he served in various engineering capacities for 38 years. He was elected Allegheny County surveyor in 1950.
Mr. Douglas also maintained a private practice as a consulting engineer and was also employed by L. Robert Kimball Consulting Engineers, Rust Engineering Co. and Harrison Construction Co. before his retirement.
He was a former justice of the peace of Robinson and was a member and chairman of the township's original zoning board. He also served as township engineer for the planning commission and the municipal authority.
Mr. Douglas was a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Guyasuta Lodge No. 513, F&AM, and a charter member of Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leona Loftus Douglas; three daughters, Mrs. Diane McAleer, Mrs. Joyce Runco, and Mrs. Pamela Scichilone; four sons, Robert, George Jr., Paul J. and Michael J. Douglas; a sister, Mrs. Ella Jones; 16 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
