Bio

** I've had to disable messages thanks to a few genuinely disturbed people who ruin genealogy for everyone. Hopefully this is temporary.**

My genealogy philosophy is that EVERYONE matters! Too often genealogists skip over the persons who died "without issue"; I seek them out to document them.

- unmarried children
- those who who died young
- the physically/mentally disabled
- those lost at sea
- priests, nuns & religious
- those from underrepresented
populations

Besides my direct lines and lines they married into, I try and list people from my childhood in North Babylon, NY (especially those who attended school there in elementary and high school, including teachers) and on Spruce Head Island, Maine. I'm also interested in documenting Catholic religious, especially in Mobile AL and Bridgeport CT.

**I will consider transfers of pages I've created if they are not directly related to me. For me, it depends on who has the most information on that person if there is a question, and whether that person is a blood relative. I do not adhere to Find A Grave's parents/grandparents/greatgrandparents only rule as I feel there are too many playing "I have more memorials than you" instead of allowing relations to take care of their own. I value information over quantity of memorials. If I've made a page for someone you know (friend or family) and I'm not related to them, ask me for a transfer.**

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about any of my pages, or if you are a long lost cousin!

Researching these lines:
**Petzolt/Dehmel - Berlin to Stamford CT, 1880. They had 10 children, all stayed in Stamford/Bridgeport area except my direct line who moved to College Point, Queens in 1919 for my grandfather to work at Tiffany's in NYC as a brass moulder for their creations. Many cousin surnames all over US: Avery, Knapp, Haviland, Anderson, Wrangen, Van Cleef, Alben, Cosgrave, Reiszel, Rexford, Eberhardt. Also interested in research of lighthouses/lighthouse keepers along CT coast as the 3 original Petzolt brothers were lighthouse keepers at Stratford and other locales 1880-1960.
** McCarthy- Clonmel, Tipperary to Fairfield/Bridgeport CT, 1880. Associated surnames in Ireland: Gough, Ryan, Lonergan, McDonald in/around Ardfinnan/Cahir. Most of the McCarthy descendents in US are scattered and few in number.
**McGlyn/McGlynn/Farrell - unknown location in Ireland to Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn NY c 1838. Location, 4th Ave between 91 and 92nd Sts. One branch moved to Jersey City NJ. Catherine Farrell married Nicholas Gathleny c 1860, settling in Pensacola FL where he became an administrator for what is now Barrancas National Cemetery. Associated names in Pensacola: Grossjohann, Pfeiffer,
**Silhavy, Matilda and children, Sabinov, (now) Slovak Republic to Sheppton PA 1903, then Bridgeport CT 1905. I have traced this line in Austria-Hungary to late 16th century. Associated surnames there and in US: Nechasek (US spelling), Topitzer/Toppitzer, Szenci. Surnames in Sabinov/Zborov/ Kosice/Budapest: Jankovich, Mazalik. • If you are a Silhavy, Nechasek, Topitzer/Toppitzer or Szenci anywhere, you are related to me• Associated surnames in US: Vroom, Hayes, in Staten Island NY, Tuozzoli, Raytar, in Bridgeport ST area. Also researching the family of Count and Countess Hadik, for whom Leopold Silhavy's family worked as head forester (gamekeeper) on estates throughout Austria-Hungary from 16th century to 1956 (Hungarian Revolution). Leopold met Matilda Jankovich, who was the governess to the Hadik's daughter, and married in a private chapel on the Hadik estate in Tovarne/Tovarna. I have been in contact with descendants of the Count in London and South America. Unfortunately documents from their estates were lost during 1956 Revolution.
