Nina was the daughter of Porter Garvin and Betty Florence (Parker) Clark. Her Social Security Death Index entry states she was residing in Miami, Florida at the time of her death, but her name does not appear in the Florida Death Index. She was married to Russell Keith in the 1930 US Census, and living in St. Joseph, Michigan. In that same census, her future husband James Lemuel "Bud" Conken was divorced and living in Columbus, Ohio.
