William Roy Smith, Sr., 47, of Woodbridge died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, 1986, in Potomac Hospital. He was born Sept 5, 1939 in Highland County, a son of Sam Smith of McDowell and Clara Simmons Smith of Newport News. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was employed at Fairfax County Landfill. Surviving in addition to his parents are his widow, Janet G. Smith of Woodbridge, two daughters, Norma Jean and Sandra Sue Smith, both of Woodbridge; a son, William Roy Smith, Jr. of Woodbridge; five sisters, Virginia Smith and Margie Shifflett, both of Harrisonburg, Della Jane Powers of Maryland and Margaret Bright and Goldie Burke, both of Manassas, and a brother, Gilbert Smith of Harrisonburg. A service was conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Obaugh 4 Funeral Home by the Rev. Lowell Stovall, with burial in McClintic Cemetery near Williamsville.
