Viva June Cooke Hook was born in 1921 in Greenville, KY.

She was the daughter of V.V. Cooke and Elva Fields Bivens Cooke. Graduating from both Atherton High School for Girls, Louisville and Brenau College, Gainesville, Georgia, she came back to Louisville and worked for V.V. Cooke Chevrolet Company. She married Bob Hook in 1945 and they became true companions for the next 58 years. He preceded her in death, as did her parents, her brother, V.V. Cooke, Jr., grandson, Andrew Finch Hilliard and son-in-law, Bob Wheat.

The community was enriched by her participation in the Younger Woman's Club, Woman's Club of Louisville, PEO, Kappa Delta Sorority; Alpha Xi Chapter, Pink Ladies at Baptist Hospital and the Deaf Oral School Board of Trustees.

She belonged to Broadway Baptist Church and cultivated the music program for not only the church but for the entire community.

She leaves her children Debbie Wheat, Bob Hook Jr. (Mary Lucy) and Heidi Hilliard (Frank): grandchildren, Matthew and Micah Wheat, Emily Wheat Maynard, Bob Hook III (Meagan), Lauren Hook (Nathan Goff), David Hook (Rebecca), Jonathan Hilliard (Beth) and Tim Hilliard; stepgrandson, Taylor Copenhaver; great-grandchildren, Riley and Bo Hook, Aida Wheat, Viva and Tilly Maynard and Harlin, June and Miller Hook to rejoice in her life for the joyful memories that she gave them, and Jane Cross, her sister, Sondra Cooke, her sister-in-law and scores of nieces, nephews and cousins and their families who loved her.

The end of her life was made comfortable by Diana, Carolyn, Glenda, Polo, Karen and Sandy, who gave her their kind and tender care. We also thank Lillian Goodman, who for 35 years displayed her warmheartedness and skills.

Her love of family was unbounding and the love of friends, joyous. June loved a gathering, a party and Delray Beach, FL. She has had a blessed life and one in which we can be jubilant in the Lord.

Private burial will be held in Cave Hill Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday at Broadway Baptist Church, 4000 Brownsboro Road. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Pearson's Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane.

Memorial gifts may be made to Broadway Baptist Church, Heuser Hearing Institute, 117 East Kentucky St. 40203.
