Regina Velie, 89, died Sunday, June 4 at the Hays Good Samaritan Center, 27th and Canal. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since February, after moving from Epworth Towers.
She was born Dec. 28, 1899 at Munjor to Melchior and Margerite (Denning) Bittel.
She married Byron W. Velie in 1946 in Denver. He died Aug. 7, 1973. She was a retired hotel housekeeper and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include four half-sisters, Josephine Seib, Hays, Eva Gaschler, Longmont, Colo., Martina Sechrist, Pueblo, Colo., and Adeline Gabel, Brighton, Colo; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Paulinus Karlin officiating; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be a parish wake service at 7:30 tonight at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine. Friends may call until 9 tonight and until the hour of service Tuesday at Brock’s.
