RITES FOR RETIRED MINISTER PENDING
Clinton, Ind., Jan 11 - (Special) - Rev. Charles Milton Botner, a former Vermillion county school teacher and minister, died Sunday evening at the residence in St. Bernice. His death followed a three-week illness. He was 87.

Born in Kentucky on April 28, 1872, he came to the St. Bernice area some five years later and received his early education here. During his early twenties, Rev. Botner entered the teaching profession and served as a teacher in several local grade schools until about 1930.

After serving as teacher in the county schools for many years, he became associated with the ministry. During his pastorate, Rev. Botner served as minister of the Sugar Grove Methodist Church near here for a few years and later went to Lawrenceville, Ill., and surrounding area where he also was pastor for the next 15 years. He was also a member of the Southern Illinois Methodist Conference. He retired from the ministry about 12 years ago.

Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Daugherty of St. Bernice and Mrs. Florence Lowry of RR 1, Clinton; two sons, Harold of Indianapolis and Paul of St. Bernice; two brothers, C.C. and Jacob, both of RR 3, Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Ola Thorne of Dana and Mrs. Ella Thompson of Scottland, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The body is at the Frist Funeral Home.

He was a son of Christopher Columbus "CC" and Mary Letitia Borders Botner. He married Mary Gordon Farrington on December 24, 1894 in Vermillion County, Indiana. They were the parents of Mable, Charles Harold, Paul Hildreth, Claude M., Florence B. and Carrol Leroy.
