Sheryl Ann Quinton, 64 of Nowata, passed away on June 17th, 2015 following a long battle with cancer.

Born April 13rd, 1951, to Joe Junior Hicks of Nowata and Delilah Willard (Barry) of Salina, Oklahoma. Sheryl was raised by that of a large family with whom she expressed her love for in many ways.

Sheryl is survived by that of her four sons: James T. Pearce and wife Amanda Pearce both of Talala, OK, Joseph Glenn Pearce and wife Brooklyn Pearce both of Nowata, OK, Robert (Boogie) Pearce and wife Brandi Pearce both of Houston, TX, and “Little” Joe Quinton of Nowata, OK. Five brothers: Danny Holcomb of Springfield, MO, Joe Hicks and his wife Dena both of Elgin, OK, Randy Hicks and wife Jennifer of Bartlesville, OK, Tim Hicks and wife Cheryl of Saxie, TX, and Sam Hicks of Wann, OK. Sheryl is also survived by that of three sisters: Sheila Giles and Husband Ronald of Pryor, OK, Sherry Roberts and husband Clyde of Chelsea, OK, and Judy Wilson of Owasso, OK. Additionally, Sheryl is survived by that of her Aunt Dora Fern and Uncle Eddy Pattison of Vinita, OK, Aunt Bernice and Uncle Dwight King of Peoria, Illinois, Uncle Fred Williard and wife Linda both of Arkansas, Uncle Frank and Velda Williard both of Arkansas, Aunt Mary Beehler of Arkansas, Aunt Harriet Mendenhall of Arkansas, Aunt Laveva Baker of Tulsa, OK, in addition to 9 nieces, 14 nephews, 9 great nieces and 14 great nephews as well as 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by that of her husband, Joe Quinton formally of Nowata, mother Delilah Willard (Barry) formally of Nowata, OK, father Joe Junior Hicks of Nowata, OK, sister Carol Loffer formally of Nowata, OK, brother Tommy Hicks formally of Rogers, Arkansas, her Uncle Clifford Beehler and Uncle Earl Mendenhall both formally of Arkansas.

As one of the original owners of Smokey Joe’s Barbeque, Sheryl made it a point in life to ensure no one walked away from her home with an empty stomach. Family or friend, Sheryl Quinton was always there for them with that of a helping hand. She will forever be remembered for her kind words, open heart, and never ending love for all with whom she would met.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015 at 2 P.M. at the Martin Cemetery. Services will be officiated by that of Lawrence Greene. Prior to graveside service’s friends and family may stop by Stumpff’s Funeral Home of Nowata, OK to sign the memorial book.
