Annie Nathalee Carter DeMasters, 85, of Faber, died suddenly Wednesday morning, Feb. 21, 2007, at her residence.
She was born in Rockfish (Nelson Co.), on Dec. 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Percy Carter and Mamie Morris Carter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Mawyer DeMasters on Oct. 9, 2000. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ellis C. DeMasters; a sister, Jean McCubbins; and a brother, Rudolph Carter.
She was a member of Rock Spring United Methodist Church in Faber. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy D. Brockway and husband, Kevin, of Annandale, Shelby D. Kitchen and husband, Riley, and Diana D. Tyler and husband, Larry, all of Faber; a son, Hugh T. DeMasters of Faber; her daughter-in-law, Sue W. DeMasters of Charlottesville; her grandchildren, R.G. and Tammy Kitchen, Edwin DeMasters, Michael DeMasters, Denise and Kevin Kenney and Brandi DeMasters; her great-grandchildren, Skyler and Meghan Kitchen, Collin and Erin Kenney, Desmont Feggans, Samatha Hatter and Damon DeMasters. Also surviving are her brothers, Gilbert and Wallace Carter, both of Richmond, and Carl Carter of Faber. Last but not least her loving pets, Lady Bird, Sambo and Jeanny.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Rock Spring United Methodist Church in Faber, with the Rev. Roger Powell officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.
