Gilbert Percy Carter,passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Born May 17, 1924.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Mamie Morris Carter; brother, Rudolph Carter; and sisters, Nathalee DeMasters, and Jean McCubbins.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Lou Carter; son, Mike Carter (Jennifer); daughters, Susan Carter, and Pat Hudgins (Paul); grandsons, Kyle Hudgins, Zach Carter, and Gil Carter; and brothers, Carl Carter, and Wallace Carter. He is also survived by his much loved nieces and nephews.

He served in the Army during World War II. "Percy" was retired from C&P Telephone after 38 years. He was a charter member of Good Shepherd UMC. He will be remembered for his love of his family, fishing, outdoors and his garden.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 2 until 4 p.m., and from 6 until 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Road. Funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd UMC on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Patterson Avenue.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children's Ministry, Good Shepherd UMC, 9155 Hungary Road, Henrico, VA 23294.
