The youngest of ten children, June was the daughter of Melvin and Laura Ellen (Wright) Tolliver, and was born May 5, 1925 in Murray City, Ohio.
During WWII, June began corresponding with John F. Boner, the two began writing letters back and forth. Upon John’s discharge from the military, John and June were married November 3, 1945 and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this November.
An excellent seamstress, June made dresses for her daughters and special handmade outfits for her newborn grandchildren. She crocheted afghans, her family’s favorite was a wall hanging of The Last Supper. June would spend hours tending to her flowerbeds. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, and solving word searches.
June was a life member of the Mansfield VFW Post #3494 Auxiliary. Later in life, June worked for D&M Plastics.
She is survived by her husband John F. Boner of Mansfield; daughters Patty J. (Roger) Sqrow of Mansfield, Ruth E. Bonner of Galion, Laura E. Boner of Mansfield, and adopted daughter Cheryl LeMaster of Mansfield; grandchildren Melissa (Jerry) Wechter, Shannon Fogle (Traci Grimes), Derrick (Tina) Sqrow; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and her two favorite cats Boots and Rusty.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her son Melvin J. Boner; four brothers and five sisters.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 5 -7 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where calling hours will continue Thursday from 11 a.m. – 12 noon. Funeral services will be Thursday at 12 noon with Pastor Andy Vallance officiating. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
