Vera Hogan Sims, 94, passed away on June 1, 2015 in Wichita, Kansas, where she moved to be with her family.

Vera was born an identical twin on October 24, 1920 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, the youngest child of Barney and Orpha Gott. Predeceased parents and siblings, Vada Gott Park, Elma Gott Jackson, Melvin and Cecil Gott and their two twins, died as infants. The family moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where Vera attended school and graduated from Junior College and married William Ray Hogan. They had two children, James Patrick and Kay Hogan. Vera and Vada moved to Wichita to work at Beach Aircraft when their husbands joined the service. When the war was over Vera and Ray stayed in Wichita until Kay and Pat graduated from High School, then were transferred to several cities with his job.

When that marriage ended she moved to Wichita where she met and married Lawrence Sims. They soon moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. She attended the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards and games. She made beautiful quilts, loved to camp, fish and travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Sims; son, James Patrick Hogan; grandson, Bruce Allen Hogan and ex-husband, William R. Hogan.
Vera is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay Hogan Donham and Paul; daughter-in-law, Vicki Taylor Hogan; five grandchildren, Craig and Missy Hogan, Shae Donham Foutch, Lance Donham, Dana Hogan Swinger and Kevin, Eric and Lori Hogan; nine great grandchildren, Chad, Miles, Kelsey, Casidey, Jessica, Faith, Briley, Aubry and Kaylee.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave, Coffeyville, Kansas at 1:00 p.m. Dr. J. Dean McNamara will officiate. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Vera's memory to the First Baptist Church, P O Box 474, Coffeyville, Kansas or may be left at the funeral home.
