Vada was born on October 24, 1920 in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Barney M. and Orpha L. (Wood) Gott. She grew up in Coffeyville where she received her education from Field Kindley Memorial High School. On August 26, 1939 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, John E. Park. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2011. At the time of his passing the couple had been married for 71 years.
During the World War II, Vada worked for Lockheed Aircraft in California building airplanes as a "Rosie the Riveter". Vada spent many years as a homemaker and she served as a rural route letter carrier for the Coffeyville Post Office for about ten years.
Vada was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville. She had many interests that included bowling leagues, traveling, spending summers on the lake, skiing, she collected political campaign buttons, stamps and glass baskets. She also enjoyed quilting; she had made over 100 quilts. Most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.
Surviving to honor her memory is her daughter, Joyce Tesh and her husband, Larry of Parsons, Kansas; grandchildren, Debbie Morrow and Kenny Tesh both of Nashville, Tennessee and her twin sister, Vera Sims of Wichita, Kansas. Vada also had numerous nieces and nephews that she was extremely close to and considered her additional children. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John; parents, Barney and Orpha; brothers, Cecil and Melvin Gott, two infant brothers and a sister, Elma Jackson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor J. Dean McNamara will officiate. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 9 am until 8 pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel to sign the guest register. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America; the family requests memorial be left with the funeral home.
