Charles (Charlie) Bruner, Sr. of Gate City, VA, left this life on Friday afternoon, May 29, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.

He was born in Church Hill, TN and spent the majority of his life in the Chalybeate Springs community. He worked many years in the concrete business and was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Bruner; parents, Hobert and Ruth Houseright Bruner; sister, Ethel Hunley; three brothers Kelly, Claude, and James Bruner along with great grandson, Jacob Neff.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Laura Jones Bruner of the home; children, Teresa Jones & husband James, Robert Bruner, Bill Bruner & wife Tina, and Mary Jeter & husband Barry; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, George Bruner, Doug Bruner & wife Virginia; along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 pm on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6 pm with Pastor Daryle Housewright, officiating. Music will be by Grace Stidham.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am on Monday (June 1, 2015) at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am. Pallbearers are Paul Bruner, Cody Bruner, Steve Duncan, Joe Cooter, Andy Bruner, and Tracy Bruner. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Frost and all of his fellow concrete workers.

Carter-Trent/ Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Bruner family.
