James W. Bruner, age 77, of Inverness, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Citrus Care Center in Inverness. Mr. Bruner was born in Gate City, Virginia, on August 25, 1931, to the late Hobert & Ruth (Housewright) Bruner and moved here in 1993 from Tampa, Florida. Mr. Bruner was a retired carpenter and Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Bruner; one daughter, Carol (Scott) Schafheimer of Tampa, FL; one stepson, George Medich of Riverview, FL; one stepdaughter, Sandra Smith of Inverness; three brothers, George Bruner of Kingsport, TN, Charles (Laura) Bruner & Doug (Virginia) Bruner, both of Gate City, VA; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Burnell (8/19/97).
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 3:00 P.M. from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness with Rev. Leary Willis officiating. Burial will follow at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
