ETHELSVILLE, Ala. — Argyle Tilley Jewell, 90, died Nov. 8, 2010, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church of Ethelsville with the Rev. Redus Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at Skelton Funeral Home of Reform. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Jewell was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Pickens County, Ala., to the late James Earnest Tilley and Jenny Lou Lowe Tilley. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Ethelsville. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Ira Jewell; brothers, Lanier Tilley, Herbert Tilley, Raymond Tilley, Harvell Tilley, Huron Tillley; sisters, Virginia Tilley and Ruth Tilley Walters. She is survived by her daughters, Doris Brown of Columbus, Donna Paul of Alabaster, Ala., Cynthia Saunders of Ethelsville, Ala., Lavada Corless of St. Louis, Mo., Suzette Ponds of Ethelsville, Ala., Montia Jewell of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Billy Carl Jewell of Birmingham, Kenneth and Michael Jewell, both of Ethelsville; sister, Rachel Tilley Owen of Ethelsville; brothers, Louis and Paul Tilley of Ethelsville; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
