Harvell V. Tilley, 78, 3949 County Road 30, died July 24, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held at First Free Will Baptist Church in Ethelsville on Thursday, July 26, 2001 at 11 a.m. will follow in Forest Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James Earnest Tilley and Jenny Lowe Tilley; sister, Virginia Tilley; brothers, Lanier Tilley, Rev. Raymond Tilley and Silas Huron Tilley.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Zettie Ashcraft Tilley, Ethelsville, Ala., two daughters, Rita Hopkins (Rick) of Statesboro, Ga., Jennifer Barksdale (Arlis) of Northport, Ala.; one son, Tony Tilley (Patricia) of Reform, Ala.; three sisters, Argyl Jewell, Ruth Walters and Rachel Owen, all of Ethelsville, Ala.; brothers, Louis Tilley and Paul Tilley, both of Ethelsville, Ala., Rev. Herbert Tilley of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Tilley was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Ethelsville, a Retired Employee of United Technologies, a member of West Ala EX-POW'S, a Ham Radio Operator and a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II where he was held P.O.W. in Germany.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, David Barksdale, Bart Tilley, Jesse Hopkins, Matthew Tilley, Vernice Tilley and Kenneth Jewell.
