Son of Samuel Gibson and Lillian Williamson. Graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth, MN. Graduated from Duluth Junior College and completed one year at the University of Minnesota before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps in December, 1941.


Radio operator aboard a B-17 bomber that crashed into Slieve An Orra mountain 40 miles north of Belfast, Northern Ireland on October 3, 1942. Eight crew members perished in the crash while 2 crew members survived.
