Mayvline (Stephens) Smith 87 of Franklin, formerly of Edinburgh passed away Friday May 22, 2015 at the Franklin United Methodist Community.

She was born July 14, 1927 in Russell County, Kentucky to Jona and Riffie (Wilson) Stephens. She married the Reverend O.E. Smith on August 21, 1943 in Russell County, Kentucky and was blessed with sixty seven years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 20, 2011.

She was a homemaker as ministered alongside her late husband Rev. O.E. Smith with the Church of God of Cleveland, Tennessee serving in Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan, and Indiana. She remained steadfast in her faith and could identify with the Apostle Paul saying “I have kept the faith, I have fought the good fight and there is a crown laid up for me at his appearing”.

Survivors include her children Reverend Clifton Smith (Bonnie) of Anderson, IN., Louie L. Smith (Debbie) of Noblesville, IN., Milton Smith (Bonita) of Columbus, IN., Kenny Smith of Noblesville, IN., daughter Brenda McKee (Danny) of Franklin, sixteen grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and two brothers Johnny Stephens of Shelbyville, IN and Roland Stephens of Franklin..

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter Eva Mae Smith on November 21, 1943, a grandson Jason Smith, two brothers Buster Stephens, Ed Lee Stevens, four sisters Vernie Bennett, Mary Gadberry, Faye Stephens, and Maurice Stephens.

The Reverend Jerome Baker will conduct a service Tuesday at 2PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call Monday from 4-7 PM at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, IN. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.swartzmortuary.com.
