** In Loving Memory of William Miner Sr. **
William will be loved, missed and remembered forever in the hearts
of all who loved him. William and Sarah, many Members of their Family
were prominent community leaders and highly respected pillars of
their communities. William served in the U.S. Military during the American
Civil War. William was a Pioneer. There is much info online and published about
William as a Civil War Veteran and as a Pioneer. William was very active
as a Pioneer and in the community of Stark Township Iberia in Brown Co.
MN. The New Ulm Review (MN) featured William in many articles in the
archive newspapers. A memorable article of likely many articles, appears
to be the double 1878 Wedding Ceremony hosted by William Sr. and Sarah
in the grove in Iberia, Stark Brown Co. MN near their home.
Their Grand Daughter Cora Farmer, Daughter of Lucinda Miner Farmer
Baldwin and the late Sanford Farmer, married Fred Hopkins in 1878. Their Son
William Jr. Miner married Mary Alice Dungan that same day July 4, 1878.
It was a well attended, happy gala celebration per the New Ulm MN article.
William and Sarah's Daughter Lucinda Miner Farmer , a young Widow in 1873, remarried to Mr. Baldwin. The Family survived many challenges and hardships
during their Pioneer Days including diseases as Tuberculosis. William
and Sarah, their Daughter Lucinda and other Family helped care for
Granddaughter Cora Farmer Hopkins children after Cora passed away of
T.B. as a young mother in 1885. William, Sarah, Lucinda, other Family raised
Cora's Children Clarence, Bessie and Adelbert Hopkins. William and Sarah did a wonderful job as Parents and Grandparents. They were loving and caring Parents
and Grandparents, Great Grandparents. William and Sarah taught their
children and their grandchildren about strong ethic and family values,
Faith, working hard, life skills, honesty and making a positive difference
in the world. Many of their Children Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren
and Great Great Grandchildren continued working in the Farming industry.

William Sr. is survived by many relatives in Minnesota, Wisconsin,
North Dakota, Washington, Oregon and elsewhere around the USA.

in 1862 and mustering out after transfer to Company F 34th & 38th in
Houston Texas in 1865. This online site also sites

Edgar Miner lived in Howard Iowa when enlisted
for the Civil War in Iowa, Edgar was born in
Vermont. Edgar Enlisted in 1864 in Iowa,
transferred to Company F 34 & 38th in Texas,
mustered out in 1865 in Houston Texas. It sited William Miner's residence as
Granger , Fillmore Co. Minnesota at time of Iowa Enlistment.

Via this Govt. site, William and Edgar Miner could have also served at
additional locations during the War. Both were Union Soldiers in the Civil War.

Both William Miner and his son Edgar Miner mustered out of the U.S. Military
American Civil War, honorably discharged Aug. 1, 1865 via Houston Texas.
It appears that the Battle of Fort Blakely, in Alabama, was April 1865.
This was one of the last major battles during the American Civil War.

Many references to The 38th Regiment Iowa Infantry being a Volunteer Infantry.
Union Army During Civil War. Edgar Miner's Headstone engraving includes
the 38th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Both Father and Son were Brave American
Civil War Heroes.

They sited William Miner was Wounded in the Battle of Blakely, also at
Matrid, Missouri. He was honorably discharged. William Miner Married
Sarah Gilman who was born in New Hampshire in 1842.
The biography sited that William and Sarah Miner had 12 children born,
of whom 7 were living at the time of the biography. ( more info included about
places he lived, not about the children or their names. Sites William lived in
LaFayette Wisconsin for 5 yrs before moving to Howard Iowa.)

to note: If it is accurate that there were 12 children born and 7 children
living, there may be more children not known in addition to the Baby
William Miner who passed away in 1845.

resided in Gilmanton Wisconsin. Luther Ives moved from New York
and was in Stark by 1859. His Ives Family of origin joined a year later.
Russel Ives was Luther Ives Father. Many of the early Pioneers became
related by marriage via their Children and Grandchildren, other
Family. Some other Pioneer Friends of this family known to have
became related by marriage to William Miner's Family were the
Nathan/Sanford Farmer Family, Albert and Delight Tuttle Family,
Robert and Anna Wilson Family, Hatch Family, Dungan Family,
and many more early Settlers and Pioneers in Stark

Clarissa Ives Miner was the Daughter of Russell and Lucretia Ives
Russell and Lucretia Ives were also highly respected, influential
documented Pioneers and active community Members of Stark Brown County.
Russell and Lucretia Ives moved to Vashon King County Washington abt
1890. Their Son Luther C. Ives (Clarissa's Brother) was also a
well documented Brown Co. Pioneer and Military Veteran, 1864 Minnesota
Calvary. Luther Ives eventually moved and retired in Tracy, Lyon Co. MN
some years after his Spouse Ursula Tuttle Ives passed away abt 1905.
Franklin and Clarissa Miner moved to Vashon King Co. Washington.
Franklin and Clarissa Miner were documented Pioneers in Vashon.
Many of William and Sarah Miners Family and Friends moved to
King Co. Washington. Russell Ives is the sited in many of the same
Brown County MN History sites that site William Miner Sr. It appears
Franklin Miner remarried to Agnes Morgan as a Widower after his
beloved Spouse Clarissa Ives Miner passed away.

There is an extensive article about Luther C. Ives in the March 12, 1919
New Ulm Review, New Ulm MN page 6. It appears Luther Ives passed away at
his Son Albert's home in S. Dakota abt March 12, 1919. Much history
sited in the article that relates to all of this family living in Minnesota
or Brown Co. MN during the 1860's era.

Luther C. Ives came to Minnesota in 1859 from New York. The rest of the
Ives Family came to Minnesota in 1860. Luther C. Ives enlisted in 1864 as
a Member of the Minnesota Company - G. Second Minnesota Calvary and
joined General Sully on the Missouri River. He was severely injured in battle.

The Vashon Island Cemetery in King Co. Washington was incorporated in
1888. The Cemetery Property first two acres were sold to the group
establishing the Cemetery by Pioneers Franklin and Clarissa Miner.
Charles OKeefe donated an additional 1.5 acres for the Cemetery. ( South
King County Genealogical Society)

William and Sarah's Daughter Lucinda Miner Farmer Baldwin
and her Son Ulysses Farmer, other Miner Family are buried at the
Vashon Island Cemetery in WA.

Arthur Chute are buried at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye
Brown Co. MN. William and Sarah should be buried in the Soldiers
Rest section of the Home Cemetery. Much information regarding William
serving in the US Military during the Civil War and his being a noted Pioneer
in Brown Co. MN. Williams Family was often sited in the New Ulm MN Review.
They had a large farm in Iberia, Stark, Brown Co. Minnesota
with a beautiful grove area.

in 1862 and mustering out after transfer to Company F 34th & 38th in
Houston Texas in 1865. This online site also sites
William's Son Edgar Miner age 18 yrs old who
also served our Country during the Civil War.
Edgar Miner lived in Howard Iowa when enlisted
for the Civil War in Iowa, Edgar was born in
Vermont. Edgar Enlisted in 1864 in Iowa,
transferred to Company F 34 & 38th in Texas,
mustered out in 1865 in Houston Texas. It sited William Miner's residence as
Granger , Fillmore Co. Minnesota at time of Iowa Enlistment.

Via this Govt. site, William and Edgar Miner could have also served at
additional locations during the War. Both were Union Soldiers in the Civil War.

Both William Miner and his son Edgar Miner mustered out of the U.S. Military
American Civil War, honorably discharged Aug. 1, 1865 via Houston Texas.
It appears that the Battle of Fort Blakely, in Alabama, was April 1865.
This was one of the last major battles during the American Civil War.

Many references to The 38th Regiment Iowa Infantry being a Volunteer Infantry.
Union Army During Civil War. Edgar Miner's Headstone engraving includes
the 38th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. Both Father and Son were Brave American
Civil War Heroes.

Veterans Graves Registration listings siting Civil War and Brown County MN, his dod.

sites some biography info about William. They site he was born
in Burlington Chittenden County Vermont. They site him as a
Civil War Veteran and early Pioneer in Brown Co. MN
They sited William Miner was Wounded in the Battle of Blakely, also at
Matrid, Missouri. He was honorably discharged. William Miner Married
Sarah Gilman who was born in New Hampshire in 1842.
The biography sited that William and Sarah Miner had 12 children born,
of whom 7 were living at the time of the biography. ( more info included about
places he lived, not about the children or their names. Sites William lived in
LaFayette Wisconsin for 5 yrs before moving to Howard Iowa.)

to note: If it is accurate that there were 12 children born and 7 children
living, there may be more children not known in addition to the Baby
William Miner who passed away in 1845.

William's Brother in Law, Andrew J. Gilman, brother of Sarah Gilman Miner.
Also sited was Lorenzo Slocum, the Town Clerk, Assessor and Justice
of the Peace for Stark Brown Co. MN.

lived with Lorenzo and Anna Slocum when he was 16 yrs old. Clarence helped on
on Lorenzo's and Anna Slocum's Farm in 1895 when the Slocums were elderly.
age 84, 82 yrs old.

Andrew Gilman was William's Brother in Law who previously
resided in Gilmanton Wisconsin. Luther Ives moved from New York
and was in Stark by 1859. His Ives Family of origin joined a year later.
Russel Ives was Luther Ives Father. Many of the early Pioneers became
related by marriage via their Children and Grandchildren, other
Family. Some other Pioneer Friends of this family known to have
became related by marriage to William Miner's Family were the
Nathan/Sanford Farmer Family, Albert and Delight Tuttle Family,
Robert and Anna Wilson Family, Hatch Family, Dungan Family,
and many more early Settlers and Pioneers in Stark
Brown Co. ( Many more friendships, many more marriages. It was a
close knit community of aspiring hard working Pioneers who worked
together to make a good community for early settlers.

(Great Grandsons Clarence and Adelbert Hopkins names spelled wrong on
transcription. Great Grandsons Clarence Sanford Hopkins and
Adelbert Hopkins lived with William and Sarah Miner
for a while after their Mother Cora Farmer Hopkins passed away in 1885.
Lucinda and Sanford Farmer's son David Farmer,
William's Grandson, was also living in their home. Son Oscar Miner, his
spouse Joanna and Mary Carl were living with William and Sarah.
Not known if others in the family contracted the
contagious T.B. at the time Cora Farmer Hopkins passed
away in 1885. Cora's child Bessie Hopkins was living with her
Grandmother, Cora's Mother, Lucinda Miner Farmer Baldwin after
Cora passed away. Lucinda was also staying with other relatives per
census reports. Mr. Baldwin was not found on any Census data.
Not known if William and Sarah's Daughter Lucinda was Widowed again at this time )

W.W. Minor was one of the first Settlers in Albin Brown Co. MN.

Franklin Ulysses Miner (Frank) married Clarissa Ives.
Clarissa Ives Miner was the Daughter of Russell and Lucretia Ives
Russell and Lucretia Ives were also highly respected, influential
documented Pioneers and active community Members of Stark Brown County.
Russell and Lucretia Ives moved to Vashon King County Washington abt
1890. Their Son Luther C. Ives (Clarissa's Brother) was also a
well documented Brown Co. Pioneer and Military Veteran, 1864 Minnesota
Calvary. Luther Ives eventually moved and retired in Tracy, Lyon Co. MN
some years after his Spouse Ursula Tuttle Ives passed away abt 1905.
Franklin and Clarissa Miner moved to Vashon King Co. Washington.
Franklin and Clarissa Miner were documented Pioneers in Vashon.
Many of William and Sarah Miners Family and Friends moved to
King Co. Washington. Russell Ives is the sited in many of the same
Brown County MN History sites that site William Miner Sr. It appears
Franklin Miner remarried to Agnes Morgan as a Widower after his
beloved Spouse Clarissa Ives Miner passed away.

There is an extensive article about Luther C. Ives in the March 12, 1919
New Ulm Review, New Ulm MN page 6. It appears Luther Ives passed away at
his Son Albert's home in S. Dakota abt March 12, 1919. Much history
sited in the article that relates to all of this family living in Minnesota
or Brown Co. MN during the 1860's era.

Luther C. Ives came to Minnesota in 1859 from New York. The rest of the
Ives Family came to Minnesota in 1860. Luther C. Ives enlisted in 1864 as
a Member of the Minnesota Company - G. Second Minnesota Calvary and
joined General Sully on the Missouri River. He was severely injured in battle.

The Vashon Island Cemetery in King Co. Washington was incorporated in
1888. The Cemetery Property first two acres were sold to the group
establishing the Cemetery by Pioneers Franklin and Clarissa Miner.
Charles OKeefe donated an additional 1.5 acres for the Cemetery. ( South
King County Genealogical Society)

William and Sarah's Daughter Lucinda Miner Farmer Baldwin
and her Son Ulysses Farmer, other Miner Family are buried at the
Vashon Island Cemetery in WA.

per Census Reports they may have both been born in Vermont.

Arthur Chute are buried at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye
Brown Co. MN. William and Sarah should be buried in the Soldiers
Rest section of the Home Cemetery. Much information regarding William
serving in the US Military during the Civil War and his being a noted Pioneer
in Brown Co. MN. Williams Family was often sited in the New Ulm MN Review.
They had a large farm in Iberia, Stark, Brown Co. Minnesota
with a beautiful grove area.
