OBITUARY: 'Dipper' Abbott - DEAL ISLAND - Oscar W. "Dipper" Abbott, 75, of here, died Tuesday, May 18, 1993, at his home of cancer. Born on Deal Island, he was a son of the late Maurice and Karen Harrison Abbott. Abbott was a member of First Baptist Church in Princess Anne. He is survived by his wife, Frances M. Abbott; four children, Rebecca Thomas and Ted W. Abbott Sr., both of Deal Island, and Priscilla Abbott of Salisbury and Mary Cooper of Princess Anne; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Roger Abbott of Princess Anne; five sisters, Naomi Hancock, Lucille Bounds and Carolyn Wheatley, all of Salisbury, Doris Webster and Betty France, both of Deal Island; and several neices and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. The Revs. Charles Hancock, William Knicely and Linwood "Sonny" Benton will officiate. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Deal Island. Contributions may be made in memory of the deceased to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802; or First Baptist Church, c/o Dr. Harrell Smith, 2927 Mt. Vernon Road, Princess Anne, Md. 21853. Arrangements are being handled by Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. (The Daily Times, 20 May 1993, p. 10)
