OBITUARY: Frances Margaret Shelton Abbott - Deal Island - Frances Margaret Shelton Abott, 83, of Deal Island died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Salisbury. Born in Harborton, Va., she was a daughter of the late John C. Shelton and Sadie P. Brittingham Shelton. Her husband, Oscar "Dipper" Abbott, and a daughter, Barbara Ellen Abbott, preceded her in death. Mrs. Abbott was a member of the W.S.C.S. of St. Johns United Methodist Church. She had also been a Sunday school teacher and M.Y.F. leader. She is survived by four children, Rebecca Abbott Thomas and her husband, Jerry, of Deal Island, Priscilla Louise Abbott of Salisbury, Ted Williams Abbott Sr. and his wife, Rose, of Deal Island and Mary Frances Abbott Cooper and her husband, Will, of Princess Anne; nine grandchildren, Robert Presock, Ryan Presock, Dawn O'Neal, Ted Abbott Jr., Rachel Abbott, Renee Abbott, Jacob Shores, Caleb Shores and Sarah Shores; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Brandon and Andrew; a brother, Roger Abbott; five sisters, Naomi Hancock, Lucille Bounds, Doris Webster, Betty France and Carolyn Wheatley; a niece, Peggy Jones; a nephew, Arthur Lawrence; and special friends, Dot Jones and Amy Pottle. A graveside service will be held today at noon at St. Johns United Methodist Cemetery in Deal Island. The Rev. William Kniceley will officiate. Contributions in her memory may be made to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21802-1733 or to First Baptist Church, PO Box 448, Princess Anne, Md. 21853.
