Leland D. Jones, 80 years of age, former clerk of court of Winn Parish and representative of this parish, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Talford Jones, near Montgomery Monday.

Funeral services were conducted at the Zion Hill Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Fling, pastor of the Natchitoches Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Zion Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born in Mississippi and came to this section while a small boy. He resided in Winnfield and at Hudson for a number of years following principally the trade of contractor. He took an active interest in all civic affairs and served as clerk of the court for a number of years and also represented Winn Parish in the state legislature at one time. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Mr. Jones was twice married, first to Miss Ida Brewer and following her death to Miss Hattie Odom.

He is survived by six children, Mrs. Talford Jones and Harvey Jones, Montgomery; Roy Jones, Pineville; Mrs. Blanche Howard, Laurel, Miss., Mrs. Jewett Jones and Everett Jones, Shreveport.

Three brothers and four sisters also survive. They are Judge Wiley R. Jones of Colfax; T. L. Jones, Dodson; Wesley Jones, Gaars Mill; Mrs. Martha Jordan, Mrs. Josie Gaar, Hudson; Mrs. Cicero Hatton, Oak Grove; and Miss Rosie Jones, Montgomery.
